What's Up Buttercup

Like so many beginner bloggers out there, my posts are sporadic. obviously. I haven't been on here for literally months and months. We are finally settled in our new home, Christmas has come and gone and we are patiently waiting for spring. I'm not going to say this town isn't for me, we've met some wonderful people here, but it's not exactly a place I want to stay forever. We have big plans for retirement already! We are seriously looking into building our forever home on the beautiful west coast. I can see it now, a small house, our dog, surrounded by the raw beauty of the coast. I just want simplicity!  One of my favourite artists, yes I will forever think of them as artists, are the people at Pioneer Log Homes. They build beautiful homes that you'll never want to leave.

You can visit their site here.

I think I will grow into an old hippie, with a motorcycle, and a spinning wheel, living in a log cabin and painting up a storm.

Two things are very new to me recently, and since I've been going on and on IRL about my motorcycle and trips, it could not be farther away from that side of me. But hey, it's good to have many layers, like an onion I always say!

Knitting. It's new my found love. I'm not good at it and haven't been brave enough to go more advanced than slippers and dishcloths so far, but I have cast on my first shrug, we'll see how that goes. Here's my WIP (Work in Progress people, come on!)   ;-)

The other new love, TEA! I can't get enough of it! My current faves are from Davids Tea I've dabbled in loose tea before, not that I didn't enjoy it, but it never caught my attention for long. I am OBSESSED people! Sadly their seasonal teas, which are spectacular, are limited edition for the Holidays, but I stocked up! Apple Custard, Sugar Plum and Sleigh Ride are my sips of choice right now. You gotta get it!

Well I think I'm tapped out for now, you can join me and my knitting adventures by friending me on Ravelry  My handle there is Skeena4 same goes for instagram if you're into it :-)
Stay cool peeps!

Take me away!

I know that's the wrong brand, but I need to tell you something! Listen to me! BTW, have you seen that YouTube video? It makes me crack up every time. ANYWAY, I saw on another blogger's video that she recommended Dove Purely Pampering Nourishing Body Wash in the scent pistachio cream with magnolia. This week I purchased it and what a great surprise! It smells HEAVENLY. My first impression on the fragrance was that it was similar to Bath and Body Works Marshmallow Fireside, which, if you know me IRL, you know that is my ultimate favourite scent in the whole world. Score one point. Second, it lathers up easily on my shower poufy. I think I could even use this to shave my legs. This lather is so rich and creamy, it's almost luxurious. Score another point.  It did not irritate my skin or leave any residue, which I had read in some reviews that was a concern. Score third point! Finally, it wasn't some weird colour when it came out of the bottle. I was half-afraid it would be some sort of weird green colour since it was pistachio, but that was not the case. There's a full four points! Yay!

I hope they make this part of their permanent line. I will be keeping my eye out for it to go on sale so I can stock up. (Although it is already fairly inexpensive, I got mine at Target) So there it is, my first product review. I give Dove Nourishing Body Wash a big thumbs up!

Now for the fun part...

Have you ever found yourself anxious to get a room in order? You know what I mean, you want it to look inviting, cozy, like you could just curl up with a good magazine or book and flip through it while drinking the most fabulous cup of tea (or glass of wine?) So it's a trip to Home Depot, another trip, and another, and so far this "relaxing spot" idea is not very relaxing at all! You cannot see WHEN you will EVER have time to sit here once it's done. This is my life right now. I think the bedroom is done. Now I have to go hurry up and relax...

I think I'm going to make monthly "resolutions" and this month, I will finish BOTH books that I started before our big move. And I will do it while relaxing in this cozy retreat that took so much time to create.

Day one....

How many of us say to ourselves, this is a fresh start!  Or... this is day one! Well for us, it is definitely day one of our new adventure. New house, new city, new jobs, new routines, even a new workout plan. It's all very exciting and very exhausting. Since it has been awhile since I've been the "new girl" anywhere, I'm a bit nervous about how I will fit in to the social circles at work. I don't come across as a girly girl most times. I have a motorcycle, I have tattoos, I lift weights, but once you get to know me, you'll see that I have the most extensive MAC makeup collection north of Vancouver, I love most things girly and I have even been known to rock the occasional tea-party-ish dress! Hmmm.... this town better watch out.
Now for the house.... Ahhh, the antics in my new kitchen are something to behold. I'm getting used to a gas stove and oven, which I have never used before. My first pizza was burnt beyond recognition (sorry hon!) but it's getting better! I'll be sure to post some of my new creations once I get started.

Decorating has actually been more of a challenge that I thought. Initially, I figured that everything from our old house would translate so well into the new house, office stuff goes in the office, den stuff goes in the den, closet stuff goes in...well, the closet. Oh wait, we don't have a hall closet? Ummm, okay... and what do you mean that doesn't fit there?! Sheesh... it's taken some Martha Stewart-like rearranging and folding skills to fit into what we thought was a bigger walk-in closet. However, mission accomplished. Bring it on Martha.
